Al Maaref University for Applied Sciences is one of the academic institutions in Syria that, since its inception, has recognized the importance of scientific research and its role in the development of nations. Since its inception, the University has sought to achieve excellence in higher education, scientific research, and community service, foster innovation, exploration, and knowledge creation across diverse academic disciplines, advance human understanding through rigorous scientific research, technological innovation, and multidisciplinary collaboration, and support the necessary means to achieve this goal. This contributes to sustainable development.

With the rapid advancements in science and technology, the need to develop the university’s scientific research system has increased to keep pace with global and regional challenges. From this perspective, the importance of establishing a specialized scientific research center emerges as a stimulating environment for innovation and creativity, where researchers and students can work on advanced projects that contribute to finding practical solutions to problems facing society and industry.

The Scientific Research Center at Al Maaref University for Applied Sciences was established pursuant to Resolution No. (180) issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on February 26, 2025, under the name “Scientific Research Center.” This center’s establishment comes within the framework of bridging the gaps facing scientific research in the region. The center seeks to activate the link between scientific research and industry, increase international research cooperation, facilitate the transfer of technology and knowledge, and provide funding and financial support by establishing partnerships with several sectors to finance research.

The center’s primary responsibilities are as follows:

· Publishing original research, studies, books, and translations.

· Encouraging students, researchers, and faculty members to conduct innovative scientific research and develop their capabilities, providing them with research tools and capabilities, and providing them with the opportunity to participate in applied research projects.

Organizing and holding scientific conferences, seminars, and workshops to promote scientific exchange.

Linking the university with society and industry, and finding applied solutions to societal and industrial challenges.

Obtaining funding and support for research projects, attracting funding from donors and research projects, stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship, and supporting the transformation of research findings into technological products and services.
